EDDIE AT LEAST TRIED TO BE HONEST ABOUT HIMSELF!

I read Mr. Fishers book TWICE I loved it. While i certainly concede he is no great star at least give him credit. He is honest about he's drug addiction and his not so great role as a father. i dont understand Liz Taylor's displeasure in the book.He writes about her in glowing terms. Of course, I could see whyDebbie Reynolds would not like it. THAT part is understandable. But at least, Eddie took the blame for most of his mistakes unlike other books who try to shift the blame. I recently bought a CD of him at the Winter Garden. He WAS NOT BAD AT ALL>
And years ago I saw Debbie in a show in Charlotte and she was great but at the end SHE DID DO WHAT EDDIE STATED IN HIS BOOK>
(SHE put her finger down her throat when she said "Fisher") If his daughter Carrie cared anything about her father she would not have liked that disrespect (he might have been an absentie father but, he was not an abusive one -like i had)
Anyway, I liked it and thought it was so readable.
Thanks Eddie

A Book Without Heroes

This volume has no heroes: not Connie Stevens, not Debbie Reynolds and especially not Liz Taylor. And you won't feel sorry for Eddie who across the three marriages was a terrible father, a serious drug offender, and in pursuit of lust, threw away what could have been the ultimate singing career of the last half century. Still, I could not put this book down. Highly engrossing.

Early admirer remains an admirer

When I was a teenager, Eddie Fisher's songs provided the backdrop for my early romances. They had great words, wonderful music, and the voice of a musical master. When I read Eddie's earlier book MY LIFE, MY LOVES, I learned that his life had been far from a glorious fantasy. Still, I welcomed the astonishing music he gave to me, my dates, my life. Today, I still buy his tapes. Reading this book did not diminish my respect for him. He was in Atlanta recently for a book signing, and I wished I could be there--but I had an unavoidable professional conflict. The book displays a splendid mirror of life at the top. Additionally, we see how being at the top doesn't mean that you will stay there automatically. Some people grieve because Elvis died as a result of drugs. In many ways, the incredible career of Eddie Fisher suffered the same fate. Fortunately, his body did not.I welcomed the book's overall message--that no matter how badly a person squanders his God-given talents and hurts others, as long as life remains there are opportunites for rebuilding--and reconciliation.Eddie Fisher was the greatest singer of my teenage generation. Through this book, he has become the greatest symbol of personal resuscitation for those who have failed dramatically. This book should be required reading for anyone entering drug rehabilitation.Thank you, Eddie, for all the music, and for a book that sings with triumph! Wish you were here!

That's entertainment!

Fisher gives of himself and proves he's as good a performer on the page as he once was on the stage and in the recording studio. Eddie delivers! It's a blast! You'll get your money's worth.

just a fantastic book by one hell of a singer! i loved it!!!

From the minute I started to read this book,I couldn't put it down! Eddie Fisher had and has some life! It is so interesting and moving and very funny too! Everyone seems to put Eddie down for unfair reasons. Read this book and you can just see he's telling it like it is,not what the world has in mind of him.Eddie seems like a very sweet man that did the best he could in life at the time.I think it's interesting his ex-wifes after all this time have to still say negative things about him.Maybe the truth hurts when its on the other side for a change!Buy the book and read it and you will see what I mean
