Great Value

I was getting disappointed and frusterated at the choices in crib bedding for my first baby girl. I guess I just have different tastes than what's most popular--and its all so expensive! So when I found this book and saw it had a pattern for bedding, I thought it was worth it just for that. I was also pleased to find it had a pattern for a diaper bag (which I was dreading picking out from the hideous selections in stores). I love all the fabrics used and the patterns are so cute its given me new motivation for decorating for my little one! So far I have only made the baby snuggie (I'm on my second one actually). I'm completely new to sewing, but my mom is an avid sewer and I've always been crafty so I wasn't intimidated by trying these because I knew she could help me if I stumbled on the way. I'd have to say, if you are new to sewing and don't have someone that could help you, this book might not be for you (but if you're also good at figuring things out, then it don't be scared of it!) There were a few steps my mom helped me with but for the most part I did the project completely on my own. Pretty much all of these patterns can be used for either a boy or a girl and even most of the fabrics displayed in this book (amy butler's own) could be used for either, so it's not aimed at one or the other. Even if you're not expecting children, this book would be a good investment for making adorable baby shower gifts that are unique and will be loved! I'm sure I'll be using it for years to come!

Loved this book!!

I have made several of the items in the book and then made the modern diaper bag a few more times for friends and gifts. The patterns were great and the instructions were easy to follow. I even resized a few of the patterns to make cute smaller bags. Thanks Amy Butler!

Best Amy Butler Book, by far

This book is everything you hope...and more! Amy Butler is known for her beautiful fabric and fresh ideas but I have a stack of her books on my shelf that I have loved to look at, but have never been inspired to make something from immediately. This book is the complete opposite! Each project is one that you will really want to make and is full of patterns, not just ideas. The projects themselves are unique and are not basic items that you could figure out on your own. I made the soft book for a baby shower gift and it was a huge hit! The kimono pj's are next on my list. You will love this book!

Another beautiful book

This is another beautiful Amy Butler book! I love some of the projects in here and can't wait to make them for my baby and toddler:) But even if I never use it I still love looking at the photography. My only wish is that two of the projects had a picture of the whole finished piece. There are two that don't have that and I'd like to see what it is that I am going to make before I make it!

A Wonderfully Versatile Book!

I shouldn't have been surprised that this book is a really wonderful, versatile book. True, it's a book for sewing baby items but they have a couple of really nice bags, designed in the wonderful Amy Butler style. The directions are clear, w. wonderful diagrams. There are patterns included (which I haven't looked at yet. This book is a good fit for beginners to more experienced sewers. Overall, I know I'll make the items in here numerous times - they're classic, well designed and modern. Alot is packed in this great book.
