A Good Friend: How to Make One, How to Be One

This book advises children in such areas as the basics of conversation and friendship. Included are nine easy-to-follow "people" skills, like giving and receiving compliments. Introducing yourself, and showing respect. Each skill puts getting along with others into easy managed steps. A special chapter deals with the challenge of shyness. Great resource and appropriate reading for pre-teens (ages 10 and up) as well.

A great resource for teaching or learning about friendships

This book is a great resource for adults working with young people who could use some assistance in developing healthy relationships. It includes a lot of good common sense concepts and is written in an easy to read style. I wouldn't expect a lot of teens to read it themselves (although some might) but if you can deliver the content to them via small group discussion or one on one counseling it can have a great impact.
