  close to brilliant!!!!!

As a long time owner and breeder of ACD's we are more than happy with this publication. My Grandfather was involved with this breed since the early 1940's. Hereditary diseases need to be taken stock of but for the first time owner this is a basic grounding. People considering this breed should only approach breeders who are prepared to test for these hereditary diseases. Narelle is one of the few breeders who is prepared to do so. Cheers Narelle continue on your championship winning ways!!.

regards DURNEE Kennels.

The book is one long advertisement

This book is filled with page after page after (boring) page of 1/3 - 1/2 page pictures of products you can buy -- for any dog. I couldn't help but wonder what sort of arrangements the author has with the manufacturers of these items. I cannot recommend the book but I found one on ACD's that has a lot better info for new ACD owners: Australian Cattle Dog : An Owner's Guide to a Happy Healthy Pet (An Owner's Guide to a Happy, Healthy Pet); Katherine Buetow, Karen Breeton. I also felt a lot of the material was "filler" material designed to increase page count. I suggest the author and publisher go back to the drawing board.

A great first resource for the new or soon-to-be ACD owner.

So what is it? A Blue Heeler, a Red Heeler, a Heeler, a Queensland Heeler? Not to be confused with an Australian Shepherd! This book covers a lot of ground in a small package. A good book for the first time ACD owner, or for someone who is thinking about getting an ACD! It gives the history of the Australian Cattle Dog, hints and tips on caring for your ACD, what to expect, and even covers some basic obedience training. The section on behavior is particularly important. Narelle Robertson is owned by ACD's, so she speaks from experience! Get this book today.

  Australian Cattle Dogs

This is a good general book and gives great breed standards. I would like to see more books with the simplicity and organization of this book. It also has great genral dog care tips for all dogs.
