I bought this book because it is recommended reading by Tee A. Corinne in her anthology `Lovers - love and sex stories'. Well written and more entertaining than you would imagine. From the back of the book - Drawing on her own and others' experiences, Loulan explores what it means to be lesbian: how we live our lives and how we want to live our lives - with passion - "passion is not only about sex, but about the life force that energizes is. " She looks at and wants us to look at our passion for ourselves and for each other. This is a fine complement to Loulan's bestselling `Lesbian Sex'. Essays cover the broad range of lesbian experience and focus on crucial issues of lesbian life: Lesbian self-esteem Long-term couples Lesbians and AIDS Loving our own bodies Celibacy Passionate friendships Lesbian dating Intimacy in recovery Survival after incest Research on the lives and sex practices of 1,566 lesbians from 134 towns and cities From the publisher - These essays focus on crucial issues in modern lesbian life. With wit and humor, Loulan discusses self-esteem, couples, long term recovery, celibacy, and other important issues. The author examines what it means to be a lesbian, how passion informs lesbian experience, and what some of the crucial issues in lesbian life are.

I love this book. Among the topics discussed inside are: -Shame about being homosexual -Human behavior / socialization -Body image / food and such issues -Addiction -Relationships -Some explanations for how miscommunication can occur -Issues surrounding sexual abuse (i.e., that it can take decades to face it; that people minimize it in their minds...) -Realistic and honest approach to sex I found the writing style to be very clear. No extra words, or extra fancy words. Funny at times, too. There were a few parts that were a little bit not my style, but the fabulous content of the book in other areas makes it deserve a rating of 5 stars in my mind. Very helpful for me.
