I thought the book was excellent

I thought this series of book wonderfully carried on the story begun in Willow. This book shows how Willow's power along with Elora's power have advanced. Overall a great book well worth reading!!

  Willow grows up.

If you enjoyed the movie and/or the book Willow then you will enjoy this one.

The story starts off 1 year after the conclusion to Willow and then jumps 13 more years to the beginning of the Shadow Wars. Willow is given a new name to go along with his new lifestyle. He is a true sorcerer, and a very powerful one at that. There are pacts with a deamon, an enemy who knows Willow and seems to be someone from his past and even a spoiled brat destined to save the world.

George Lucas had this book written with Chris Claremont because he didn't like Willow as much as he thought he would. The story has grown up into a very well done fantasy epic. It is very much like a Shannara story where everyone needs to come together to fight off a very powerfull evil sorcerer. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys fantasy epics.

One of the most original fantasy novels this century

I have become tired of all the acidic, negative opinions voted by readers who cannot handle description, character, a plot above "see spot run" (eg the Conan crud), and haven't yet clocked that "Shadow Moon" doesn't count as one single volume. By rights, the entire "Shadow War" seriews should be one book. It is a work of originality in an age of Tolkien/Conan clones, an age of clowns who cannot stand vivid and independant imagination. For those less insular, I have not given away any of the very-much-existent plot. Read now! Enjoy!

Leave Behind Your Ideas of Willow and prepare for a Journey

I have read the entire trilogy and enjoyed it all. But first I must clear a few things up. This is not based off the book Willow. This is based off the movie. The writing style is a bit different and in a few places, the descriptions are a bit excessive and other places, not enough. Another thing, this did NOT happen right after the movie. The princess is no longer a baby, this is several years in the future. In order to enjoy this book, one must keep their mind wide open. One must have the ability to accept the loss of a few main characters. One must also have the ability to wait for the answers they crave. These answers will come, just not right away. Most of the people that have a problem with the trilogy seem to be impatient with the answers or got bored from the details, others just got confused or are close minded. This book is definitely not for everyone but for those that have an open mind, love description, and fantasy this book is for you. The whole trilogy is definitely a must read for it to make sense at all... and besides the characters really develop beautifully the more you read!

  A Fantasy Classic

If you are curious enough about this series to be reading this, then don't delay, just order it! The Shadow War chronicles are as great as the Star Wars and Indiana Jones sagas, and sometimes superior. Lucas worked closely with author Chris Claremont and the result is the action driven dark fantasy of Claremont and the spirituality, whimsy, optimism & incredibly intricate world building of Lucas.

If this brave new world leaves you slightly bemused do yourself a favour & check out the ultimate Willow web site. Just go to Lucasfan.com & click on Willow.com - you'll find all the info you will ever need to get up to speed on this classic saga which is the best since Tolkien's Lord of the Rings!
