  Charming text and pictures

Doodlebug is a heart warming story for young readers about a young girl who dreams of buying her own wonderful black stallion but takes pity on a neglected small black pony at a stock-sale. There are wonderful pictures of "before and after" of the neglected pony named "Doodlebug" and Irene Brady is a very talented artist. Her pictures are a delight. Adults will enjoy it too.

  An Old Favorite

I've loved this book since I was a child. It is a sweet story that I embraced as a young horse lover.

  A Favorite

I found this book at a garage sale when I was perhaps seven. Even though I knew very little about horses, it quickly became one of my favorites, what with the cute story and the wonderful drawings that accompany it.

Now I'm about to be seventeen - sure, not very old, but still ten years older- and I recently found Doodlebug tucked away in a little-seen corner of my closet. I'm now a competent rider, and this book is still one of my absolute favorites; perhaps more so, because I can understand now why it was so "horrible" for little Jennifer to buy a lame pony.

"Doodlebug" is a wonderful book for anyone who has ever loved a "less than perfect" animal.

A girl finds her dream in a mistreated pony.

A girl dreams of having a black stallion with flowing mane and tail. She finds it in a mistreated pony sold at a auction. Doodlebug takes you riding into another land.

  Black stallion of dreams

I had this book when I was a kid and over the years it got misplaced. I have recently bought a copy for my daughter and I to enjoy and another for my friend and her daughter.

Great story, great art!
