For the past 800 years, the Indians of Taos Pueblo have lived under Taos Mountain in the Rio Grande Valley of New Mexico. Their unique vision of the world, their deeply rooted attachment to the land and their own way of life, and the quiet wisdom of their elders are eloquently recorded in this classic volume.

The very best poetry collection about Native Americans I've seen.

Believe it or not I found this book in a throw-away bin at a Used Bookstore. The artwork on the cover caught my interest, then I opened the book and I realized Serendipity was smiling on me. The book was a favorable discovery, in other words. Not only is the poetry very appropriate and full of wisdom of the Elders, etc., but the images by Howell are some of the best pieces of art I've seen depicting the culture and heritage of the Native Americans. This is one of my favorite books of all time.
