Dear Reader: In a previous life, before the time of Plum, I wrote twelve short romance novels. Red-hot screwball comedies, each and every one of them. Nine of these stories were originally published by the Loveswept line between the years 1988 and 1992. All went out-of-print immediately and then could be found only at used bookstores and yard sales...

Wonderful read for those lazy summer days...

Having been busy with my recent wedding, I did not have a lot of time to read so I began looking for books that I knew would be quick and easy and not take much thought. My first thought was the Janet Evanovich romance books that have been sitting on my shelf just waiting for me to read them. I picked up "Love Overboard" and within the first few pages I was completely hooked. It was already evident that Evanovich's humoress and funny ways of telling a story was going to be seen throughout this book.

"Love Overboard" tells the story of Stephanie, an ex undercover cop who moves away from the city to deal with her own problems and past ghosts. When her cousin Lucy decides to get married, Stephanie finds herself as the replacement chef aboard a ship manned by none other than Ivan Rasmussen, the sexy sailor who Stephanie bought her current residences from. As any romance novel will come to prove, the story goes from stuffy to steamy rather quickly but not without our fair share of Janet Evanovich twists, including glowing ghosts, disappearing dead bodies, and ancient family curses.

I laughed, I smiled, and maybe I even got a tear in my eye. This book is definitely well worth the few hours it will take you to read. So grab yourself a copy, settle into your favorite chair, and lose yourself in the wacky world of Evanovich.

  Light-hearted fun!

Love Overboard is simply a fun book. There is no deep meaning to life within the pages-but there isn't meant to be. I think some of the other reviewers take themselves too seriously. Janet Evanovich wrote a romance novel that has all types of other shenanigans involved so that the romance is almost secondary to the mystery. I found myself laughing out loud at some parts and smiling when I finished the book. Definitely a quick read.

  Love Overboard

Love Overboard was a very quick read & a very entertaining book. The story takes place mostly aboard an old schooner which is now used to take vacationers around on a six day cruise of the island's along the coast of Maine. Along the way there is romance (after all this is a romance novel!), rotten cooking and a stow away. I have read several of Janet Evanovich's books (even her collaberations) and have loved each and every one. I just picked up "The Rocky Road to Romance" and acn't wait to read it!

A Different Stephanie, but a Darned Good Book Anyway!

I am a huge fan of the Stephanie Plum series, so I was very happy to get my hands on a copy of Love Overboard. This book was written well before Janet Evanovich had Stephaie Plum fully defined, but you can definitely see the beginnings of the girl we know and love here.

Love Overboard is a great tale of a girl with a mysterious past who leaves Jersey to open a Bed and Breakfast on the coast of Maine. Stephanie Lowe is the girl in question and she is in desperate need of plumbing work on her ramshackle B & B Inn. Lucky for her, a cousin of hers is married to a plumber. What will it cost her? Working on a sailboat for a week as the cook. She thinks this seems like a good deal and goes for it.

The good deal turns into a great deal when she meets and falls for the sailboat's owner, Ivan. Of course there are lots of funny circumstances and hi-jinx along the way. To top it all off, the ending will come as a surprise!

Love Overboard is a fun book that gave me the giggles more than once. If you are looking for a nice, lighthearted book to spend a weekend with, this is a good choice!

Had me laughing out loud which looks funny when your driving in your car!

This was a terrific audiobook. I truly enjoyed it. The reading by C.J. Critt is outstanding. She is a gifted reader. I loved all of her "characters" but Stephanie really had me laughing out loud, especially when she is talking about her stance on pork and pigs and pork products! I also like Mrs. Peas, and heck they are all great. A very charmiing love story, I haven't read any of the Stephanie Plum books so I am not biased as to which is better. This one is just cute! You might love it too.
