Jo Beverley Profile Picture

Jo Beverley is the pen name of Mary Josephine Dunn Beverley, an English-Canadian writer of historical and contemporary romance novels. Born in Blackpool, England in 1947, she attended an all-girls boarding school and wrote her first romance when she was sixteen. Beverley read history and American studies at Keele University. After graduation, she worked as a youth employment officer. Moving to Canada in 1976, Beverley discovered that she was not qualified to work in Canada. She decided to devote herself to her writing. Her books were unpublished, but she continued to research and write. In 1988, Beverley's first romance was published. She is now the author of over thirty novels, with many of them bestsellers. Since then she has won numerous awards, including five RITAs, two Romantic Times Career Achievement Awards, and membership in the Romance Writers of America Hall of Fame. She lives in England.
