Ann Maxwell, born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1944, also writes under the names A.E. Maxwell and Elizabeth Lowell. She has written seventy novels and one non-fiction book on her own and in partnership with her husband Evan. Maxwell earned a B.A. in English literature from the University of California, Riverside. She wrote her first book, the science fiction novel Change, while at home with her toddler son. Maxwell has also authored historical fiction, romance, and mystery novels. Written under the name Elizabeth Lowell, Maxwell's romance novels have consistently placed on The New York Times bestseller list. She has been awarded the Romantic Times Career Achievement Award, the Romance Writers of America RITA Award for Best Historical Romance and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Romance Writers of America. She lives in the Pacific Northwest.
